Hey Bessie, send us a text message!

Warning: This project contains mature and sensitive themes such as depression and suicide. Listener discretion is advised.

Wow naman. we're elated that you want to check out how our show began, Bes!

Let's sashay down memory lane with our pilot episode! Fair warning: the audio might make you think we recorded underwater, or our pa-shy era made our introductions seem like we're walking on 6-inch heels for the first time. But hey, even a diamond starts as a lump of coal, korek?

Meet Mel (our resident lesbian) and Geoff (self-proclaimed queer boy) as they kiki about the origins of the project and how it came from the darkest of places: a diagnosis of clinical depression and a history of suicidal ideation. We dive into why we decided to create a safe space for taboo conversations in Filipino and queer culture so expect raw emotions, uncomfortable over-sharing, and yes, even some tears (looking at you, Mel).

Well, our humble foray into podcasting won us an international-award, making us the only Filipino winners at the Asia Podcast Festival Awards in Singapore! Who knew our fumbling could be so endearing?

While we hope we've improved and polished our act since then, this episode captures the heart of what The BALUT KIKI Project is all about – authentic Pinoy voices adding to the queer discourse, one awkward kiki at a time.

Welcome to the project and we hope you check out our other episodes!
